Toner Cartridges

Most people find that purchasing brand-name cartridges for their printer costs them more than they'd like to pay. Thankfully, there are other options to get the same quality standard of a brand-name cartridge for a lower price.

As a consumer, you have a choice when it comes to buying replacement cartridges. Using compatible or remanufactured toner and ink products does not automatically void your printer warranty. Your existing printer warranty is still in effect when you use toner or ink provided by National Computer Software, Inc. If you are told by manufacturer's technicians or salespeople that using non-brand supplies will void their warranty, this is not true and may be a violation of Federal Trade laws. All of our compatible and remanufactured cartridges are manufactured according to OEM specifications and will equal the same page yield as their OEM counterpart. You can buy less expensive compatible or remanufactured cartridges often with a savings of between 40% and 80%. Below is a very brief definition of the three types of cartridges.

Standard brand-name ink cartridges are referred to as original equipment manufacturer (abbreviated as OEM) cartridges. These types of cartridges are made by the original manufacturer of your printer. OEM cartridges are the most expensive option and, in some cases, the only option if you purchase a newer printer whose manufacturer embedded computer chips inside the ink cartridge.

Remanufactured cartridges (sometimes also referred to as compatible cartridges) are made out of the exact same parts that OEM cartridges are. They go through various recycling and reprocessing steps to ensure their quality. For example, they are completely disassembled with all components inspected, separated, and cleaned. New drum, wiper blade, and magnetic roller installed. The toner container is filled with new premium toner to original specifications. The container is sealed with a pull-out strip to prevent leakage. The cartridge is reassembled and tested on proper equipment. These cartridges are better bargains for customers and are better for the environment.

Compatible ink cartridges are effectively the generic counterpart of OEM cartridges. Compatible means that the cartridge will work with the specified equipment even though it is not made by the manufacturer of the equipment in question. As with generic prescriptions, manufacturers of generic supplies make brand new compatible or generic cartridges. The difference between a compatible and an OEM cartridge is primarily the price. A brand-name cartridge can cost 50% more that what you would pay for a compatible cartridge.
